ASX, BIOTECHS UP:

THE MARKET
The Australian stock market climbed 0.41 percent on Thursday September 28, 2006, with the All Ordinaries up 20.5 points to 5,075.5 points. Sixteen of the Biotech Daily Top 40 stocks were up, 12 stocks fell, nine traded unchanged and three were untraded. Eleven of the Top 20 rose and six fell, while five of the Second 20 rose and six fell.
Phylogica was best, up four cents or 11.11 percent to 40 cents on modest volumes followed by Biosignal up 1.5 cents or 8.57 percent to 19 cents, Clinical Cell up 0.7 cents or 7.78 percent to 9.7 cents and Living Cell up one cent or 5.26 percent to 20 cents. Chemgenex and Cytopia climbed more than four percent; Bionomics, Neuren, Pharmaxis and Sirtex were up more than three percent; Metabolic, Phosphagenics and Resmed were up more than two percent; with Biota, Polartechnics, Progen and Psivida up more than one percent.
Prana led the falls down 3.5 cents or 7.78 percent to 41.5 cents on modest volumes followed by Alchemia down 4.5 cents or 6.57 percent to 64 cents. Cellestis lost 4.36 percent; Agenix fell 3.45 percent; Acrux, Avexa and Cochlear fell more than two percent; with CSL, Cygenics, Mesoblast, Optiscan and Peptech down more than one percent.
