ASX UP, BIOTECHS DOWN:
AGENIX UP 10%, CYGENICS DOWN 12%

THE MARKET
The Australian stock market was up 0.6 percent on Wednesday November 1, 2006, with the All Ordinaries climbing 30.7 points to 5,383.6 points. Ten of the Biotech Daily Top 40 stocks were up, 17 stocks fell, nine traded unchanged and four were untraded. Five of the Top 20 rose and 11 fell, while five of the Second 20 rose and six fell.
Agenix was best up 1.5 cents or 10.34 percent to 16 cents on moderate volumes, followed by Living Cell recovering 1.5 cents or 8.33 percent to 19.5 cents on modest volumes and Avexa also up 1.5 cents or 6.38 percent to 25 cents.
Biosignal and Prana were up more than five percent; Proteome climbed 3.33 percent; CSL was up 2.12 percent; with Cellestis and Sirtex up more than one percent.
Cygenics led the falls, down 4.5 cents or 12.33 percent to 32 cents on small volumes followed by Phosphagenics down 3.5 cents or 10.0 percent to 31.5 cents and Phylogica down two cents or 6.25 percent to 30 cents. Polartechnics fell 5.15 percent; Psivida lost 3.45 percent; Chemgenex, Clinical Cell, Cytopia, Portland and Pharmaxis fell more than two percent, the last with 3.3 million shares traded. Alchemia, Genetic Technologies and Metabolic were down more than one percent.
