ASX, BIOTECHS UP:
PRANA UP 15%, LIVING CELL DOWN 9%

THE MARKET
The Australian stock market climbed 0.90 percent on Tuesday October 10, 2006, with the All Ordinaries up 49.0 points to 5,211.7 points. Eighteen of the Biotech Daily Top 40 stocks were up, 11 stocks fell, six traded unchanged and five were untraded. Twelve of the Top 20 rose and five fell, while six of the Second 20 rose and six fell.
Prima saw 5.4 million shares traded to close unchanged at 6.0 cents.
Prana was again the best, up 7.5 cents or 15.31 percent to 56.5 cents on modest volumes, followed by Metabolic up 4.5 cents or 8.57 percent to 57 cents with 804,427 shares traded. Cygenics and Portland both climbed more than six percent followed by Tissue Therapies up 4.76 percent. Acrux, Clinical Cell and Polartechnics were up more than three percent; Peplin and Sirtex climbed more than two percent; with Alchemia, Chemgenex, Cochlear, Genetic Technologies, Pharmaxis, Phosphagenics and Ventracor all up by more than one percent.
Living Cell led the falls, down two cents or 9.09 percent to 20 cents on modest volumes followed by Proteome down 1.5 cents or 5.0 percent to 28.5 cents on very small volumes. Clinuvel, Optiscan and Peptech fell more than three percent; Avexa and Cellestis fell more than two percent; with Biota, Neuren and Novogen down more than one percent.
