ASX, BIOTECHS UP:
CYGENICS UP 15%, PHYLOGICA DOWN 6%
THE MARKET
The Australian stock market climbed 0.60 percent on Wednesday October 11, 2006, with the All Ordinaries up 33.6 points to 5,245.3 points. Twenty of the Biotech Daily Top 40 stocks were up, 11 stocks fell, six traded unchanged and three were untraded. Eight of the Top 20 rose and 10 fell, while 12 of the Second 20 rose and just one fell.
Cygenics was best, up five cents or 15.15 percent to 38 cents on moderate volumes, followed by Polartechnics up 1.4 cents or 14.58 percent to 11 cents, Agenix up 1.5 cents or 11.11 percent to 15 cents and Proteome up three cents or 10.53 percent to 31.5 cents. Prima climbed 8.33 percent; Evogenix was up 7.14 percent; Cellestis and Living Cell climbed by five percent or more; Chemgenex and Mesoblast were up more than four percent; Avexa, Biosignal, CSL, Novogen, Optiscan and Pharmaxis were up two percent or more; with Cochlear, Portland and Progen up by more than one percent.
Phylogica led the falls, down two cents or 5.88 percent to 32 cents followed by Cytopia down 4.0 percent; Bionomics and Sirtex down more than three percent; Prana down 2.65 percent; with Acrux, Neuren, Peptech, Phosphagenics and Ventracor down more than one percent.
