BIOTECH DAILY’S TOP 40
The biotechnology sector closed 2006 better than the All Ordinaries, with 25 of the Biotech Daily Top 40 rising in market capitalization, 14 falling and one unchanged.
The Biotech Daily Top 40 Index climbed 9.4 percent in December to $4,756 million compared to the All Ordinaries up 4.2 percent.
The biggest winner was Polartechnics, climbing 164 percent to $29 million; followed by Progen up 62 percent to $263 million; Avexa up 57 percent to $74 million; and Phylogica up 54 percent to $40 million. Other strong gains were Evogenix (45% to $100m); Clinuvel (37% to $202m); Ventracor (34% to $286m); Portland Orthopaedics (29% to $62m); and Peptech (23% to $264m).
